ABOUT ME
WHO I AM

My name is Camila Araya, I was born in Santiago de Chile, and I have lived much of my life in the commune of Puente Alto, until 2019 where I decided to move to Berlin to continue my studies in Dance.

Since I was little, dance has been my driving force in life, and in 2002 I began my informal studies in ballet technique, professionalizing myself as an artist in contemporary dance at the Universidad Academia de Humanismo Cristiano, Chile between the years 2007-2012. To finally graduate as a performing artist and enter the world of choreography in 2021 from the Berlin Dance Institute, Germany

WHAT HAVE I DONE
WHAT I DO

Within my career at UAHC I had the opportunity to work and learn from various performing artists, among whom I highlight Raimond Hilbert, and Carolina Bravo among others. In addition, the school gave me the opportunity to dance on prominent stages and festivals, such as Plaza Brasil at Matucana 100, and Plaza Brasil at Bellas Artes.

Upon graduating from my degree I had the opportunity to work in workshops with Claudio Santana and participate in independent theater and dance companies, La Reflexiva and Titiridanza, respectively. Among which I highlight the experimental dance company IDEA directed by Beatriz Alcalde, where I had the pleasure of working between 2013-2019.

In addition to this, in the field of pedagogy I have worked in various schools, academies and establishments in the metropolitan region such as the Duoc Uc institute and the international organization YMCA in Chile. To emigrate in 2019 to the city of Berlin and complete my second Bachelor in Dance at BDI

I am currently developing two choreographic proposals of my own.

The first is a solo called La TaurA, whose central theme revolves around the archetype of the bullfighting woman. This is a journey through the eyes of this animal and coming face to face with our benefits and fears.

The second work is a group piece called #unsereTRIBU, a roller coaster of flavors and colors like life itself.

In addition to this, we have started a project to bring dance closer to migrant children and their families, where children from different parts of the world have the possibility of exploring their expressive capacities. All this thanks to the space provided by Interkulturelles Frauenzentrum SUSI, Berlin.
